eDPI Calculator

Enter your mouse DPI and in-game sensitivity to get your eDPI and how far you move the mouse for a full 360° turn. Pick your game to compare with the usual range.

What eDPI means

eDPI (effective DPI) = mouse DPI × in-game sensitivity.

Two players can feel exactly the same in-game with very different settings. 400 DPI at sensitivity 2.0 and 800 DPI at 1.0 are both 800 eDPI. eDPI cancels out the DPI difference, so it’s the number players compare when they talk about sensitivity within one game.

cm/360: compare across games

eDPI only works inside one game, because every game turns the camera by a different amount per unit of sensitivity. cm/360, the distance you move the mouse to spin a full circle, works everywhere:

To match your feel between games, use the sensitivity converter.

Typical eDPI by game

GameCommon eDPI rangeCalculator
Counter-Strike 2~600–1200CS2 eDPI
Valorant~200–400Valorant eDPI
Fortnite~40–70 (DPI × X sens %)Fortnite eDPI
Apex Legends~800–1600Apex eDPI
Overwatch 2~2400–6400Overwatch eDPI
Call of Duty~3200–6400CoD eDPI

These are broad ranges that many experienced players fall into, not rules. Plenty of good players sit outside them.

How to find your ideal sensitivity

  1. Start in the common range for your game.
  2. Do a 180° test: you should be able to turn around comfortably in one smooth arm movement without running out of mouse pad.
  3. Check small adjustments: you should be able to make tiny corrections on a distant target without overshooting.
  4. Change in small steps (10–15%) and give each change a few sessions before judging it.
  5. Keep it once it works. Consistency builds muscle memory, and constant tweaking undoes it.

Not sure what your mouse’s DPI really is? Measure it with the mouse DPI test. Then practise with the aim trainer.

Frequently asked questions

What is eDPI?

Effective DPI: your mouse DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity. It lets you compare overall sensitivity between players who use different DPI settings in the same game.

Can I compare eDPI between different games?

No. Each game turns the camera by a different amount per unit of sensitivity, so 800 eDPI in CS2 feels nothing like 800 eDPI in Valorant. Use cm/360 or the sensitivity converter to compare across games.

What is a good eDPI?

It depends on the game and your style. Most competitive players use a fairly low sensitivity for precise aim, for example roughly 600–1200 eDPI in CS2 or 200–400 in Valorant.

Does higher DPI make my aim better?

Not by itself. What matters is the combined sensitivity (eDPI). Higher DPI with a lower in-game sensitivity can feel slightly smoother, but 800 or 1600 DPI work well for almost everyone.
